Safety scheme for Westhoughton road
Bolton Council have approved plans to improve safety in Westhoughton. There have been 16 accidents and 17 casualties along Wigan Road, between Wearish Lane and Cricketers Way, between 2006 to 2010. Plans, have been approved to install two refuges to help pedestrians cross the road. One will be installed near Walker Street and one near Dobb Brow. Two new signs will be erected near Southfield Drive, warning motorists about the approaching bend. And hatch markings will also be painted along Wigan Road, from Wearish Lane to Cricketers Way, to improve safety. The safety measures will be implemented as part of the resurfacing work that is currently underway on Wigan Road. |
